Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to own a horse?

No, we provide lesson horses that are safe and trained for their jobs. It’s important that you begin your horseback riding journey on a horse that can teach you as well as forgive you for your mistakes (of which there will be many).

If you do have your own horse, we are happy to discuss lesson and training opportunities for you and your personal horse.

Do you provide helmets?

We have a limited number of helmets available for student use. We do recommend that you purchase a helmet should you/your child determine that horseback riding is a sport you will stick with. There are many places to purchase including Amazon and Tractor Supply. We do recommend that try on a helmet in person, as everyone has a differently shaped head.

What should I wear?

Every student must have jeans/breeches and boots. Boots must be Western-style boots or English riding boots (paddock or tall). They must have a heel and not be fashion boots. Fashion boots do not provide the protection that your toes/feet require for riding. Absolutely no open-toed shoes are allowed in the barn area and around any horses. Dress for the weather and avoid dangly and loose-fitting clothing that could become hooked on a saddle.
