Internships Opportunities

Lake Fork Stables has a number of intern positions available to help us grow and expand our mission. If you have a love of sharing horses with kids and others, then this is the perfect opportunity to put your equine education to work while helping the community.

  • Fundraising Intern

    Lake Fork Stables seeks an intern that is willing to fundraise, get sponsorships and earn monthly donors. Research grant opportunities. This is a vital part of running a nonprofit and ensuring that we can meet our mission of bringing horses and joy to the kids of East Texas.

    You do not need horse experience, but you do need to understand the benefits of horseback riding and horsemanship for kids, particularly those on the autism spectrum or other mental health constraints.

    Note: This is an unpaid position.

    *Must have great communication skills

    *Hardworking, can-do attitude

    *This position can be done remotely, but may require traveling to local businesses, etc. Reliable transportation will be important.

  • Marketing Intern

    Lake Fork Stables needs an intern to help with digital marketing and promotion. This would include creating and scheduling email newsletters, mailings, and social media posts. Collaboration with the fundraising intern to plan events and other marketing opportunities to garner donations and sponsors.

    Note: This is an unpaid position. Internship can be done remotely with occassional visits to the farm during lessons for taking photos/video.

    *Must have great communication and organization skills

    *Proficient with Microsoft Products and Canva and possibly Photoshop

    *Creative and hardworking

    *Undergraduate or minor in Marketing

  • Working Student

    Lake Fork Stables is offering seasonal working student positions available to advanced beginner/intermediate level riders that are looking to improve their horsemanship, riding and learn about the equine assisted services that we offer. Student must have a solid foundation in walk/trot/canter. We ride primarily English, but most of our horses go Western as well. Other horse chores and responsibilities will include grooming, feeding, watering, etc. and helping our instructors and trainers.

    This is an unpaid position, but the student will receive a weekly riding lesson, opportunity to ride a variety of horses, and participate in shows. You will also learn therapeutic modalities for horses such as massage and PEMF.

    Student must be 16 or older and have a reliable form of transportation. Schedule will be based on availability, but communication and reliability is a must.
