Working Student Program
Lake Fork Stables is offering seasonal working student positions available to advanced beginner/intermediate level riders who are looking to improve their horsemanship and riding and learn about the equine-assisted services that we offer. Students must have a solid foundation in walk/trot/canter. We ride primarily English, but most of our horses go Western as well. Other horse chores and responsibilities will include grooming, feeding, watering, etc., and helping our instructors and trainers.
This is an unpaid position, but the student will receive a weekly riding lesson, the opportunity to help retrain retired racehorses, and help/participate in shows. You will also learn therapeutic modalities for horses, such as massage and PEMF.
Students must be 16 or older and have a reliable form of transportation. Communication and reliability are a must.
Working students work with our trainer, completing a variety of barn tasks:
Cleaning the barn
Cleaning/Filling water troughs
Catching/grooming horses
Assisting with riding lessons
Assisting at riding excursions/parties and other community events
